Match Report

The under 14s were given a footballing lesson by a very strong Carryduff 15 ,who must be considered favorites for the county title this year.Saul will reflect on the fact that though they had a reasonable share of possession, they tended to give the ball away too often, and as a result ,scoring opportunities were at a premium. The game was played in excellent spirit ,well refereed by Mark Lynch.James Murray had another excellent game between the sticks ,while Joe Hayes and man of the match Paul McMullan defended well.Saul missed the strength of Mikey Rice, and the skill of Callum Mahoney, however. After half-time ,Saul dominated possession ,but had given themselves a mountain to climb, but Molyneaux and Harney combined for a superb goal, while Cathal Sloan battled to the end.Conor Campbell refused to lie down despite sustaining an injury, and Saul will take comfort from the fact that with a bit more self-belief,they can comnpete with the best.

Good luck to Carryduff in their "A" championship campaign. This young Saul side will look forward to the "B" championship with relish.
