Comiserations to Saul's Scor na Nog county champions in the Ballad Group and Novelty Act who lost out at the Ulster semi final stage in a very strong competition with the Derry and Antrim champions on Saturday night. In both categories, the girls (Claudia Leung-Soon, Bronagh O'Neill, Fiona Brannigan, Gemma Duffy and Grainne Laverty) surpassed even their excellent performances from the County final a week earlier but in the end it wasn't enough - although the loss in the Novely Act category was particularly hard on the girls as the winners Rostrevor progressed even though they had lost out (after a scoring error was corrected) in the Down final last week. Its good to see that the qualifier series from football is now findings its way into other strands of our competitions!!! Despite that ultimate setback, 2005/2006 can only be regarded as another superb year for Scor na Nog in Saul and the club thanks all competitors in all categories who represented the club this year and last but not least to the excellent guidance of Phil Stratton and Gareth McGreevy throughout.
