At the first East Down semi-final of Scor-na-nog in Saul hall on Sunday afternoon, the home club came out as top club with 6 of the 7 Saul representatives making it through to the East Down Final which will take place in 2 weeks time (Sunday, November 11th) at St Aquinas Hall, Dundrum starting at 3pm. The Saul quiz team of Thomas Maguiness, Daniel Lyttle and Conaill Newman came so close to making it 7 out of 7 but they fell just short in the final round with Downpatrick and Kilcoo advancing. Phil Stratton and Gareth McGreevy had carried out their usual detailed preparations with the Saul teams and it showed when the results were announced by MC James Magennis at the end of the night. Saul's successes came in Ceili Dancing - 1st(Molly Murnin, Taylor Murnin, Sarah Bohill, Bronagh Sealey, Katie Lowry and Katie and Aoife Quinn), Solo Singing - 1st(Cristina Holland), Recitation - 2nd (Sarah McVeigh), Instrumental Music - 1st (Sarah McVeigh,Cristina Holland, Michael McMullan and Paul and Brian Riordan),Ballad Group - 1st (Grainne Laverty, Nicole Leung-Soon, Sarah McVeigh, Cristina Holland and Roisin Sloan) and Novelty Act - 1st (Niall Laverty, Sarah McVeigh, Grainne Laverty, Nicole Leung-Soon, Orla Holland, Roisin Sloan, Owen McVeigh and Cristina Holland). Well done to all the club's entrants - again setting the standards - and good luck in the East Down Final in 2 weeks time.
